Don’t Shred Your Rights Poster
“Don’t Shred Your Rights” is a digitally illustrated poster created to encourage voter participation during the 2020 election season. The final piece was selected for exhibition during the week of the 2020 election. The central concept uses a paper shredder as a metaphor for an unused vote, emphasizing the idea that choosing not to participate can mean giving up a voice in decisions that affect both individuals and their communities. A red, white, and blue color palette reinforces the political context, while the shredded paper strips symbolize discarded votes and lost opportunities for civic engagement. Hand-lettered typography is combined with traditional typefaces to reference both the personal act of voting and the historical documents that established those rights.
