Stonewall Revolutionaries Graphic Novel
“Stonewall Revolutionaries” is a digitally illustrated non-fiction graphic novel about the events of the Stonewall Inn riots. The story surrounds the legendary transgender activists Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera. Illustrating landscapes was not a strength of mine before starting this project, which was all the more reason to step out of my comfort zone throughout the creation of this graphic novel. My use of color displays the passion and unrest of the transgender rights protests going on during the 60’s and 70’s with bright vivid colors and contrasts against a desaturated blue modern world.
